Kansas City Here We Come
Just when I thought I had things figured out, God presents us with a different opportunity!! As most of you know we moved to Jefferson City because Dan was unable to find a job in Kansas City. It was an incredibly difficult move for us as we had acquired close friends and a church we loved in the 3 years we lived there. We had been really desiring to move back to Kansas City but it just hadn't happened for us. Dan got this opportunity with the National Guard and we started to feel more comfortable in Jefferson City and were getting accustomed to the fact that we may need to stay here for the next few years. Dan started to get bad feelings about joining the Guard though and what it might do for our family time. The 5 months of being away from us was weighing on his mind, plus the potential of being deployed for a year, along with the fact that he would be giving up one weekend each month. We started to really pray about it and were granted some extra time when they had to move back his swearing in ceremony one month. In that one month Dan received an interview and job opportunity with the Juvenile Department in Kansas City. So....we decided to forgo the National Guard (at least for right now) and will be moving to Kansas City!! It is a great opportunity for Dan, basically he will be like a prosecutor but they aren't actually prosecuting because these are children. They are working on a rehabilitation program for them. There is a lot of opportunity to move up and it's exactly the kind of thing Dan wants to be doing. Our move is happening very quickly, Dan will be starting May 22nd! Our landlord is only going to let us out of our lease one month early so we are going to stay with friends the rest of May and June while we look for a house to buy in the Kansas City area. We are so excited to be moving back and having somewhere we know will be permanent....well permanent for at least the next 5-10 years (unless of course God has another plan for us). Although excited we will miss Jefferson City. Our church has been a considerable blessing in helping us grow as a family for Christ. Please come visit us in Kansas City (after July) because we will finally have our own house!!!
